Only the good news during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Whilst the entire world is spreading the positive news concerning the CoronaVirus outbreak, we the Arab population still have our guards up, we have learned from past experiences to focus our energy on the problem and we fear getting distracted by the good news.
Unfortunately but understandably, we became a pessimistic community due to the wars we went through, the back-to-back economic crisis, the global political pressure and the various of social standards, religions and moral values that have caused us to shield ourselves and reinforce our defense mechanisms, so now we simply take longer to believe and process good news before we start spreading them, we protect ourselves from a possible disappointment.
The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on the 30th of January 2020, by today it is about time to reevaluate our situation on all levels, why not be hopeful in a time where anxieties and uncertainties reign, we have nothing to lose but some will gain.
Whether we like to admit it or not, this crisis has brought us together globally, everyone is working and fighting back united, we succumbed to our responsibility towards each other, and humanitarian acts are popping up worldwide.
Let's start by pointing out, highlighting, screaming off our lungs with some GOOD NEWS in the medical field, our main concern.
  • 70+ vaccines are under development, 3 of which are already in HUMAN TRIAL phase, speed in progress is unprecedented, and the vaccine is expected to be within the market in the upcoming year instead of the usual 10 to 15 years, skipping the usual animal trials.
  • Latest medication to fight the most severe manifestations of Covid-19, "Remdesivir" was approved for use in Japan after the USA, and is showing a higher rate of recovery.
  • Convalescent plasma, people who have recovered from Covid-19 are donating blood for medical researchers to retract their antibodies and inject them in patients with Covid-19 as a form of treatment under study. Trials began in the UK.
  • Just yesterday, Italian researchers claim to have developed a vaccine that can neutralize the CoronaVirus in human cells, and human trials are expected as early as mid-June 2020.
  • China has closed down its Coronavirus hospital in Wuhan.
  • The Netherlands found an antibody that can fight Covid-19 to be developed into a medication for at-home treatments.
  • South Korean scientists conclude people cannot be infected twice.
  • Last but not least, and my personal favorite. Only a few days ago, studies coming from Belgium emerged about the possibility of llamas saving our lives, yes LLAMAS, the cutest animal alive has a tiny particle that appears to block the new CoronaVirus.
Did you know that as of yesterday there is a total of 1.344.265 healed cases worldwide?! How great is that! 😌
  • A Chinese great-grandmother has made a full recovery of Covid-19 at age 103!
  • A 100 year old British veteran "Tom Moore" was responsible for a fundraising of 32 Million Pounds donated to the National Health Services (NHS).
  • Death tolls are declining in Italy, Spain, France and Germany and the new cases are broadly stable.
  • Recoveries in Turkey make up more than half of cases.
  • Lockdown and curfews are easing around the world.
  • Leaders from 40 countries hosted an event to raise a little over 7.4 billion Euros to help the medical fight against Covid-19.
  • Celebrities, artists and A-Listers stars are giving back to their community with generous donations, food funds, livestreaming concerts, performances and investments in medical research to fight the CoronaVirus outbreak.
  • Volunteers sign up in hundreds of thousands to help their community and particularly the NHS.
All of the above are very few of the good, hopeful news surrounding the Crisis we're living in, and so far they are not so bad, HOLD ON the best is yet to come!
